Annäs mother was born in the far north of Sweden but moved to Stockholm when she was twelve. Her father is a Frenchman born in Guadeloupe. Anna's mother was active in the Swedish feminist organization known as Grupp 8 - they fought for women's right to choose, their right to use pain relief at childbirth, and equal salaries - while her father, with his French traditional gender views, couldn't understand why. The varied cultural influences of Annäs upbringing have formed her, opened her mind, giving her a greater understanding for people's differences, as well as an ability to see similarities where they are not immediately apparent. The plot line of A Perfect Relationship is tried and tested: a woman is torn between two men, one of whom stands for stability.
