A Poetry of Birds is a collection of 38 free-verse poems about various wild bird species. The poems are accompanied by full-color prints of the photographs that inspired them, taken by a professional wildlife and nature photographer. The poetry expresses the author's emotional, spiritual, and intellectual responses to the birds as they appear in the photos and to the bird species. The poems vary in tone from whimsical and comical to serious and tragic. The combination of poems and visual images makes for a stronger impression on the reader than would either medium alone.
