The status of language is a critical issue in many states. Language policy is one method by which governments attempt to manage any critical situation that comes from languages and its status. The status of language is a critical issue in many states. Language policy is one method by which governments attempt to manage any critical situation that comes from languages and its status. The aim of the article is to look at some of the existing problems regarding language policy in Bangladesh. In this paper, the qualitative method is used by following document analysis. Data has been analyzed on the basis of various articles, books about language policies and language policies of different countries. At the same time, this article compares these data on the basis of Bangladesh contexts. It is found that Bangladesh needs a pragmatic language policy if it wants to think its socio-political, socio-economic and socio-cultural situations and to develop its nation by challenging all obstacles of development as well as to face the globalization. But, from the result of data analysis it has been proved that the task is difficult because Bangladesh has no language policy. The intention of this article is to discuss these issues which are necessary for a pragmatic language policy in relation to English in Bangladesh.
