Bayissa Chala Legissa es personal académico de la Universidad de Ciencia y Tecnología de Adama en Etiopía. Como está muy interesado en la malaria, realizó su tesis de licenciatura sobre su epidemiología. Desde entonces, ha investigado sobre infecciones parasitarias, incluida la malaria, y ha impartido varios cursos de parasitología en algunas universidades públicas de Etiopía.
