In spite of his degree in Fine Art, Londoner Brian ended up working for the Chief Executive at Devon County Council and, among other things, ran the council's inquiry into the devastating foot and mouth disease and later organised the Napoli Shipwreck Inquiry. A lifelong rock climber and mountaineer, he has contributed articles and stories to magazines and journals throughout his life and retirement has allowed him the time to research and write this debut novel about love, war and death. And a mountain.
