Business communication is a purposeful social activity. Much of the current study focuses on discourse in international business, where the common code could be categorised as BE, a language in its own right, which seems to be the view many business people share. The pragmatic purposes of English in international businesses do not normally imply the same range of lexicon and grammar. English is widely used in business in Romania, many business people have excellent skills, but it still is a foreign language for them. For business and other international purposes, a core of English has to remain understandable to all English users. No one nation or culture is in charge of English now (Gilsdorf, 2002). People should be concerned with the processes of producing and interpreting texts and at the same time with how these cognitive processes are socially shaped and relative to social conventions.
