In late summer of 1879, an unexpected, early morning door knock alters Leonard Hardy's life when a neighbour discovers an unidentified body outside his home. Naturally curious, he sets out to learn the identity of the dead man, but a series of peculiar events and the unexpected appearance of a mysterious and dapper stranger changes everything. Leonard Hardy is a dedicated junior reporter for the Evening Standard newspaper. Using the newspaper's resources, Leonard makes subtle enquiries and quickly learns that things aren't what they seem. Tormented by Asian gangs, white supremacists, and corrupt police, he realises his life is not what he believed, and dramatic events quickly unfold to overwhelm his once orderly and structured life. Now, his own life is in mortal danger. A Sinister Consequence' is a gripping Victorian-era mystery that captures the essence and dynamics of a developing English colony and draws attention to social injustice and the unfair treatment of hardworking immigrants. This book is more than a compelling novel; it's an emotional page-turning adventure into our ominous past.
