Late in 1864 the Edisto Rifles were sent to Fort Fisher below Wilmington; on the fall of that fort the author was captured and sent by sea to Point Lookout Prison, where he remained a prisoner until June,1865." This is one of the most delightful and readable first hand accounts of the war in Virginia that I have read. Mr Izlar's writing style shows that he was highly educated and had a great command of the English language as well as an intimate knowledge of other literature. The original book was published in 1914.
