This is the story of my parents Will and Amy who met and married in 1913 just prior to the ¿Great War¿; but also of my childhood and that of my siblings. This story travels through the poverty and hard times experienced during the 1920¿s and the sadness of the 1930¿s, all through which poverty and hardship continued. The adage was, ¿it was cheaper to move than pay rent!¿ The need to put food ¿on the slate¿ was quite common although we never went hungry. What few clothes we had were always clean. House keys used to hang on a piece of string through the letter boxes with no fear of being broken into. The story then continues through to the ordeals of the ¿Second World War ¿ after which the lives of women would change forever and finally their voice would be heard. Amongst the hard times, and interwoven between the tears and sadness the house was always filled with lots of love, ¿cwtches¿( Welsh for cuddle), laughter and singing; hence the title.
