A Statistical Study of certain aspects of written Tamil Corpus hails to the field of empirically oriented research in linguistics. It will be of massive attention and great benefit to both researchers and students. This book offers a hands-on introduction to the practical skills that are necessary to carry out corpus linguistic studies. A supportive book, this is one of the introductions to the study of quantitative corpus data. As Steven Clancy (University of Chicago, USA) points out in Quantitative Corpus Linguistics with R that "Today's linguists are increasingly called upon to master technical and statistical domains for which they do not usually receive primary training in their graduate programs. This clear and highly approachable introduction is an invaluable guide both for seasoned linguists moving in a more quantitative, corpus-based direction as well as for a new generation of graduate students just beginning work in this field." Thennarasu Sakkan is Senior Lecturer /JRO in LDC-IL, at Central Institute of Indian Languages, Mysore, India.
