The study investigates the morphological structures of those forms that are derived from adjectives by certain morphological processes. The bases and the derivatives belong to major lexical categories. Actually, the bases are adjectives only, while the derived words are nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs. Adjectives are treated by word-formation processes in order to produce deadjectivals out of them. The morphological processes that derive deadjectivals are either affixation or conversion. Affixation involves formal changes (adding affixes to the bases), while conversion does not involve such changes. These forms can appear in the function of their ordinary underived counterparts. Therefore the present study tries to highlight the processes by which deadjectivals are gained. Furthermore, it sheds light on the types of the derivatives, their semantics, syntax and their renderings in Arabic.
