This book covers some aspects of radiation damage on magneto-transport properties of rare-earth manganite system. Such system including colossal magnetoresistive (CMR) manganites are of rapidly growing interest for their remarkable magneto-transport properties. The role of structural defects in material modification is being widely used all over the world. This book presents, in one hand, a literature survey on this system in the context of its structure, electronic properties and the impact of ion-beam irradiation on those properties. On the other hand it gives an account of how to create purposeful defects through radiation damage as well as to characterize those defects properly. Various interesting results obtained from ion-beam irradiated samples are described here. Present study described herein opens a scope for a comparative study of role of defects, produced by different ways, in tailoring physical properties of manganite system.
Autorenporträt
Dr. Sanjay Chattopadhyay, Assistant Professor of Physics, Maulana Azad College, was awarded the PhD degree from University of Calcutta in 2008. As a post doctoral fellow at Department of Physics, University of Trento, Italy he worked in positron beam facility laboratory. His area of interest is to study role of defects in material modification.
