To diagnose this, the book aims: 1- To identify the perceptions of Arab and Saudi students in particular about the factors which could cause learning difficulties for them. 2- To identify the attitudes, expectations and motivations of Saudi students toward learning English. 3- To determine the strengths and weaknesses of the English language curriculum with respect to teachers' preparation, students' interests and needs, teaching aids, and to consider improvement for the curriculum. 4- To determine the effect of the school district on the judgement of the three groups of students, teachers, and parents in regard to the effectiveness of learning the English curriculum and difficulties encountered by students. 5- To identify the experiment of the Ministry of Education inthe UAE in implementing a successful English course which decreased factors of students' learning difficulties. 6- To make some suggestions and recommendations.

Dr.Khalid Al-Nafisah obtained his MA in Applied Linguistics with ELT. from the University of York , UK. in 1997. He obtained his PhD. degree in Applied Languages from the University of Wales / Swansea, UK in 2001. He was appointed as an assistant professor at King Saud University, Teachers College in the Department of English in 2003.
