The aim of present research is to study the health policy making process in India and make recommendations for developing a transparent and inclusive mechanism to improve policy making process. To study the health policy process and its components such as (a) Agenda Building and Policymaking, (b) Planning, (c) Implementation, (d) Monitoring and Evaluationand (e) Identify the problems in each of these components, role of key actors involved in the process of policy making with regards to healthcare in India and suggest strategies to improve the health policy making process in India. The study covers the literature on policy, policy making process and its components, the administrative set up of healthcare in India, the national program - Ayushman Bharat and its mandate, various other national missions on health, challenges of healthcare policymaking, understand the policymaking process and make appropriate recommendations on each component of the policy making process.The study makes recommendations on all four aspects of the policymaking process i.e., agenda setting and policy making, planning, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation with regards to awareness, communication, data, technology, capacity building, evidence-based research, and the health policies for states.
