Street trader makes a major share in the unorganized employment sector and still remains unorganized without being united. Comparing to normal traders, street merchants providing goods and services a much low price and remains deprived of rights and favors offered for the common daily workers since street traders are classified as self employees. Because of the reasons that street traders poses a threat to the visage of growing urbanization and causes discomfort to travelers, most of the time they were discouraged. Police officers, official and local rowdies impede in their moral rights and values due to the misconception that street trading is illegal. While making effort day and night to earn a living, a never ending uncertainty haunts them that the spot where do their trading might not be available the very next day. Recently, some political parties are in the onset efforts to organize street traders to avail constitutional rights and to lend a much more dignified social life.But still the outcomes of such efforts are in ambiguity. Thus the study aims the socio economic conditions and issues faced by the street traders in Nilambur region.
