Microfinance is the basic financial service provided to unemployed or low income individual, or groups or otherwise marginalized people who have limited or no access to financial services. The institution involved in achieving the goal of Microfinance are known as Microfinance Institution or MFI's. A greater scale of organization is regarded as microfinance institute. Through our research, the progress made by the various top Microfinance Institute has been stated. Our study is based on the top 10 MFI's of India, on the basis of their rank in various criteria like state, number of branches, number of client outreached, Loan Portfolio and the Loan disbursed by them. To get a further and a more appropriate analysis on the MFI's we have checked the correlation and regression between the loan portfolio and loan disbursement made by the top 10 MFI's. This has been done using SPSS tools, considering the hypothesis along with residuals.

Dr.Sreemoyee Guha Roy is an Assistant Professor in Commerce at St.Xavier¿s College,Kolkata. and also a Guest Faculty in Finance at Calcutta University. She has five books to her credit.Subhankar Parbat working with Ernst and Young GDS as an Associate in the Assurance Sector.He holds a Masters Degree in Finance from St.Xavier's College,Kolkata.
