Stylistics emerged out of the mediation between literary criticism and linguistics; it concerns itself with the linguistic analysis of a text or discourse. The treatise is a new addition to the stylistic study. It aims at presenting a linguistic description of Keats s poetry at different levels of language. In textual and systemic perspectives, it explores the distinctive features of language in the selected poems of Keats at graphological, phonological, lexical, syntactic, semantic and discoursal levels. It also offers an insight into the interpretive tradition, contemporary approaches to literature and genesis of stylistic study. In addition, it seeks to equip the readers with an arsenal of analytical tools for interpreting literature in general and poetry in particular and add new dimensions to teaching and research in language and literature.
