ABOUT THE AUTHOR Dr. Paul Re was born and raised in New York. He completed his BA in a combined major of Economics and Pre-Medical Studies at Columbia College, Columbia University, and obtained his Medical Degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, Columbia University. He completed his Surgical Internship at Harvard's Fifth Surgical Service, New England Deaconess Hospital and his Orthopedic Surgical Residency at Harvard's Combined Orthopedic Residency, Harvard University. In 1997 he was chosen to be Chief Resident of Orthopedic Surgery at the Massachusetts General Hospital. There he served as clinical Instructor and Associate Trauma Surgeon. Dr. Re did three fellowships. His first fellowship was as the Frank E. Stinchfield Fellow in Molecular Biology at New York Orthopedic Hospital, Columbia University. His second fellowship, was the Spine Surgical Fellowship at the Brigham and Woman's Hospital, Harvard University. Dr. Re's final fellowship was in Sports Medicine at New England Medical Center, Tufts University. Dr. Re is a fellow member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, AAOS, Board Certified in Orthopedic Surgery by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgery, ABOS with a second Specialized Board Certification in Sports Medicine Dr. Re is a member of AANA, ACSM, MOA, and the New England Orthopedic Society, NEOS. His is a fellow of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. Dr. Re has over 20 published articles, chapters and abstracts in peer review journals, text books and national meetings. He has presented and has had his original research presented at national and international meetings, most notably developing novel ways of reconstructing the Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL), Hybrid ACL reconstruction and a new technique to treat Complex Shoulder Instability due to bone defects in the Humeral head. He has 23 Patent Applications and 16 full patents from the United States Patent and Trademark Office, USPTO. He has designed and been involved in the development of orthopedic devices currently being used in the advancement of minimally invasive arthroscopic surgery. Dr. Re has been granted staff privileges at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Brigham and Women's Hospital, New England Medical Center, and New England Baptist Hospital. At Emerson Hospital he has been appointed Director of Sports Medicine, has served as Associate Chief of Surgery and has been the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery since 2012.
