The author Ben Gabriele has had a long history of involvement in marine life thru his travels and his daughter Christine, who is a whale biologist at Glacier Bay National Park specializing in Humpback Whales. The illustrations and situations in the book were written as authentic as possible and intended to amuse and educate the reader.
