Autorenporträt

Jefta Iluyomade has been influenced by a range of black artists including Bruce Onobrakpeya, Toni Morrison, Alice Walker, Chinua Achebe, and Kendrick Lamar. Born in Lagos, Nigeria, in 1999, Iluyomade moved to Illinois at age four. He spent most of his childhood in Champaign, Illinois, and attended Champaign Central High School. His extracurriculars included submissions to the school's literary magazine and being an active participant in the African American club. Iluyomade was the winner of Phi Beta Sigma's Willie T. Summerville Book scholarship. This fall he will begin classes at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
