This is the fourth book in the series of Shakespeare stories for very young children. The stories comprise elements of Shakespeare's plays presented in an easy to understand formula designed to be read to children from as early an age as they are able to have stories read to them. Each play is re-told through the eyes of Shakespeare's cat, William Shakespuss. He is ably supported by a varied array of different animal friends who act out the story. The use of the animals encourages the child to further enjoy the story due to the nature of the loveable characters, beyond those envisaged by Shakespeare, often exemplifying characteristics built into the original writing. 'A Tricky Letter' is taken from 'Twelfth Night'. It is pared back to focus entirely on the use of a forged letter to trick the grumpy, old Malvolio into believing his mistress is in love with him. As a result the much maligned character presents himself in a completely foolish manner, as is suggested within the letter, in the mistaken belief that the instruction therein is what the beautiful Olivia seeks in a lover. Of course his actions are all the things she likes least, and everything he does encourages her to detest him more. The outlandish characters of Sir Toby Belch and Sir Andrew Aguecheek lend themselves readily to childish capers, but the excesses of their drunken ribaldry are kept to a minimum, likewise the intrigue of the cleverly twisting plot is kept to a minimum in order to retain the attention and understanding of the intended young audience, but overall close adherence to the text is retained. As in all of the books it is important that the sub-plots, and/or other storylines are taken out in order to present a simple, singular presentation, easily understood by a young mind. It is the intention to produce a minimum of 25 books in time, building up a library of Shakespeare stories to be treasured. Learning elements of the stories which make up the Shakespeare plays at an early age should reduce any sense of fear or trepidation when reaching a point when the learning of Shakespeare is mandatory in a child's education, they will already be aware of these basics and may even have been encouraged to gain a thirst for the full text, and the complexities of Shakespeare's writing, through a love of The Tales of Shakespuss.

Melissa Mailer-Yates Working from her studio in Warwickshire, England, Mailer-Yates began her working life as an internationally acclaimed artist in 1979. Believing in the Arts as a whole, alongside her painting she has always written extensively, poetry and prose. Her first major published work was an historical novel called 'Ellerker', based on a 16th century ancestor. Because of her ability to illustrate she has also formulated a number of children's books, the first published was entitled 'The Bogglebott'. The 'Tales of Shakespuss' collection has been the culmination of many years of development. Her unique writing ability, illustration skills, and her work in film and television is now formulated into Shakespuss & Co, a multi-layered vehicle to fully package and market every aspect of the Shakespuss product, now on course to become a truly international success. She is particularly articulate concerning her artwork and its place within the halls of Art history, thus creating a demand for lectures and other public speaking events. Amongst her extensive painting commissions are those for her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, Her Royal Highness Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, Prince Nawaf and Princess Jawaher of the Saudi Arabian Royal Family, as well as other celebrities and nobility throughout the World. Some of her more interesting commissions included a series of equestrian works for Royal Doulton, and a set of celebrity portraits which was the centre-piece for the opening of the Los Angeles Art Show. Apart from the United Kingdom her paintings can be found in many countries including the United States of America, Canada, the Middle East, Africa, Germany, Luxembourg, Norway and Australia. She has had solo exhibitions throughout the U.K. and in New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Aspen. Elected Associate of the Society of Equestrian Artists 1997, Elected to member of the Fine Art Trade Guild 1998, and Honorary Board Member of the Association of Fine Art Dealers of America in 1999. Together with Ivana Trump, she co-hosted the 1999 Spirit of Freedom Award in Aspen, during which she presented one of her paintings and a sculpture by Marton Varo to Goldie Hawn, an award for her work in Tibet.
