Geeta Pati is a children's science writer. She has published several books in India and the US. She strongly believes in teaching science to children and young adults through interesting and humorous stories and illustrations.Her latest publication, "A Trip to the Moon" is an updated children science book about a charming group of animals who want to beat humans to the Moon. On the way they learn about physics as it relates to space travel. This updated edition has been endorsed by leading scientists and more importantly by her five grandchildren. The story is fictional but the science is accurate and up to date. This beautifully illustrated book is a wonderful educational tool for children ages 8 and up.The next book in the series, "A Cosmic Voyage" will be available soon. In this story, the animals continue with more adventures and learn about the universe and its contents. They travel billions of years back in time, witness the Big Bang and the creation of matter, visit a nebula, see a supernova explosion, get caught by a black hole and learns many scientific facts about these entities.Geeta raised four children along with her husband, Dr. Jogesh Pati, a physics professor at the University of Maryland who is currently continuing his research at the SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in the San Francisco Bay Area. Geeta's books are a culmination of her life-long experience of telling stories about everything from space science to Indian culture to children.Geeta received a graduate degree in Psychology prior to immigrating to the United States. She was a volunteer teacher in an elementary school in Maryland, helping children with reading and math. Since then, she has been devoted to the education of children in the physical and biological sciences. Proceeds from the sales of her books are donated to the Adruta Children's Home in her home state of Odisha in India.
