Ida Laura Pfeiffer (1797 - 1858) was an Austrian traveler and author. She was one of the first female explorers, whose popular books were translated into seven languages. Pfeiffer was an independent thinker. During the grand review held in Schönbrunn Palace, she protested against foreign occupation by turning her back as Napoleon rode past. Ida Laura Pfeiffer est une voyageuse et exploratrice autrichienne, née le 14 octobre 1797 à Vienne, morte le 27 octobre 1858 dans cette même ville. Commençant à voyager à 45 ans, elle a effectué cinq voyages en seize ans, dont deux tours du monde.
