As a teen ager, Barry de Vaney started out as a self-taught cartoonist and progressed to computer generated imagery and story writing. He prefers writing stories for children to encourage their imagination and creativity. He grew up and still lives in New Zealand and draws his inspiration from the flora and fauna of his home country.
