This is DeNeece Butler's first novel. At almost eighty years old, it is the fulfillment of one of the items on her bucket list. The story is set in two of her favorite places, the mountains of North Carolina and Alaska. She explains, "I didn't know when I started out exactly what the story would be. It is pulled from various parts of my life, and various people who crossed my path. Most of it is purely fictional. Some of it is loosely based on fact and certain real characters. Some of it, the medical parts, are based solely on medical research. Good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, He'll give me time to write the sequel. Dear Reader, don't ever give up on your dreams. If you have a dream about doing something, just do it."
