A86 (or Paris super-périphérique) is the second ring road (U.S.: beltway) around Paris. A86 follows an irregular path around Paris with the distance from the city centre (Notre Dame) varying from 8 16 kilometres (5.0 9.9 mi). A part of A86 makes it a longest urban motorway tunnel (10 km of continuous tunnel), opened in two parts in 2009 and 2011. A86 is a part of the four-ring-road system surrounding Paris and Île-de-France: Boulevard Périphérique, completed in 1973, roughly an ellipse 9 × 11 km (5.6 × 6.8 mi) and limits of Paris city. A86, completed in 2011, irregular, 20 × 25 km (12 × 16 mi), similar in size with London North Circular and South Circular.
