About the Author Tara Henderson is a public elementary school principal in Tulsa, OK. She has been in public education for nearly three decades. This is her first children's book. This story is a work of fiction; however, the Tulsa Race Massacre is a historical event that has impacted the lives of Blacks in Tulsa for many generations. Tara's writing journey started in the second grade when she got a pink diary with lock and key for her eighth birthday. She never stopped journaling. In 2018 her writing practice evolved into actual work. Today she has three novel drafts, two NaNoWriMo wins, a blog, a parenting workbook, and a part-time job copy writing for various businesses. Her passion for building community and encouraging intentional living continues to drive her daily life. She is a California native currently residing in Dallas, TX with her husband, teenagers, a dog, a cat, and a calendar full of joy. She is currently working with The Book Incubator to turn one of her novel drafts into a published work.
