Avaya Nayak is a renowned poet in the post 1990 Odia poetry. He represents the trends in post modernism in Odia literature. His poems are rich in intensive humanism, compassionate realism, nostalgic romanticism and inherent optimism. His intellectual thoughts, his selective use of myths and metaphors, besides his down to earth approach transcend his poems to a different level in comparison to his contemporaries in Odia poetry. The poetic canvas of Sri Nayak is wider and deeper both in style and content.Born on 14th January 1963 to a middle class family in a small village namely Haldhar Bindha of Bhadrak District of Odisha, Sri Nayak has very deep feelings for rural environment, simple life style and colloquial fictions. As a senior officer in Odisha Administrative service, Sri Nayak has served in different capacities and has seen and inculcated deep insights to the life and values of the common man.
