Abuse is rampant in our world, our country, our neighborhood. Physical abuse is immediately apparent in bloody wounds that leave scars. Sexual abuse may be buried and not apparent until years later. Verbal abuse cuts deeply into the psyche and may not ever show itself. But if it does, it has left a festering aching yet hidden wound that can never be excised. It is as damaging to an afflicted person as a broken wing is to a bird. Helens world, gentle and loving, is crammed into a tiny home filled with many children and everyday common ailments. Autorenporträt
Bernice Berger Miller, author of ABUSE, has written other novels as well as other genres such as childrens stories, a memoir, selections for private purposes, poems, and short stories. Dr. Miller earned her B.S. degree from Columbia University and her Ph.D. from the University of Florida. She is always called upon to correct, rewrite, or otherwise contribute to her grandchildrens school reports. They are responsible, however, for anything that requires knowledge of the computer or internet, as she lacks any skill in that regard. Perfect trade off. They all help her in this digital world, and most recently, Nicole Miller has contributed to this effort by launching her books out of her computer and onto the desk of the publisher. Otherwise, her books would be gathering dust in her computer. Any art work is executed by another talent in her family, Alexandra Cott, while Eric, David, Steven and new great grandchild Jackson wait to be called upon. She has been a developer of real estate, a partner in an antiques and collectibles company, a traveler, and an incessant sports fan. Shes had season tickets for over 30 years for her favorite football team. She loves the time she spends with her family. But when theyre off in another direction, she writes and writes. Except for the time when shes either at, or watching, a football game.
