Guidance and school counseling programme should inculcate study habits, study skills, motivation to read and learn, memory training techniques to read, reproduce and retrieve the learnt material, use of schedules of reinforcement especially reward strategies, promoting positive feelings of self-efficacy and personal competence and if needed personal counseling. This research report is a compilation of the above with an aim to provide useful insight on underachievement.

Dr.Y. Saraswathi completed her M.Sc.,B.Ed.,M.Phil. and Ph.D. in School Psychology in 2018 from Sri Venkteswara University, Tirupati, India. She has to her credit National/International Publications, attended several Conferences/Seminars and presented research papers. Currently she is involved in community development programmes.
