The increased knowledge of biology of tooth movement at the molecular level and optimal response of alveolar bone to applied optimal force has propelled the orthodontists to advent various methods to bring into orthodontic practice and increase the rate of orthodontic tooth movement. Application of mechanical force causes tooth movement because of remodeling changes in the paradental tissues. Recent cellular, molecular, and tissue-level studies on the biologic mechanism of tooth movement suggest that a mechanical force is not the only stimulus for inducing tooth movement, but the use of pharmaceutical, electromagnetic, laser and surgical stimuli in combination with the mechanical force for accelerating orthodontic tooth movement has shown promising results. So in current scenario accelerated orthodontics is the only method for the patients who decline conventional orthodontics due to longer time duration.
