Why a comparative perspective on the professional integration of young people in two different urban social contexts (Cotonou and N'Djaména)? In response to this problematized question, we put forward the hypothesis that young people in these two cities reflect an image of experimentation rather than identification. This social representation constitutes a constraint in the process of acquiring adult status. This research is in line with M. Détienne's (2000, p.1) logic of "comparing the incomparable". This has enabled us to go beyond a simple game of comparison in the context of these two (02) entities, and to highlight national "coherences" and transversal parameters.
