Autorenporträt
R. C. Maclagan, a.k.a. Rachel Harriette Busk was a writer, translator, and folklorist from Britain. She was born into a Scottish-English household in London, England. Maclagan received his education at home and from an early age showed a strong interest in mythology, folklore, and languages. Because of her love of folklore, Maclagan emerged in the late 19th century as one of the leading authorities on British folklore studies. She gathered and recorded a great deal of myths, folklore, and folktales from all across the British Isles, including Scotland, Wales, and Ireland. Maclagan's book "Evil Eye in the Western Highlands," which examines the cultural practices and beliefs surrounding the evil eye phenomena in the Scottish Highlands, is one of her most significant contributions to folklore studies. Throughout her career, Maclagan made a substantial contribution to the preservation and propagation of old folk beliefs and practices, which in turn enhanced the general public's comprehension of British folklore and cultural heritage. Even now, academics and fans of folklore studies still regard her work highly.
