Democracy has become a very important phenomenon in the world. Appropriate democratic political structures play crucial roles in forging an enduring settlement to an internal conflict. The main goal of this research was to find democratic conflict resolution and peace-building strategies that may be used to deal with separatist agitations in the South East Region of Nigeria by Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The research was anchored on four objectives which are; examining the nature of IPOB separatists' agitations, examining the existing strategies in resolving IPOB agitations and peace-building, identifying the challenges with existing strategies in resolving agenda and suggesting democratic ways through which IPOB secessionist agitation can effectively be resolved and for lasting peace to be ensured in the South East Region of Nigeria. The study was anchored on Democratic Peace Theory. Therefore it will assist readers to understand the origin of separatist agitation in Nigeria as well as how democratic method can be used to resolve them.
