The author is an experienced ICT field engineer from 1989 to 2011, having participated in infrastructural development, integration, commissioning, maintenance, and projects resources allocation and controls. Fourteen years' experience as a Managing Director of an SME in the country had him involved in corporate governance affairs of the sector on a daily basis, tackling the various challenges involved. Coupled with an MBA degree and the responsibilities of nurturing Applied ICT under-graduate students with entrepreneurial skills, behavior and practices, plus continued assessment and consulting new entrants to the same market, the author bears his all in advising the Zimbabwe SME sector participants so that they avoid stepping on some notable obvious landmines in the market.
