In daily routine practice of Orthodontics both fixed and removable appliances are used to correct the positions of malposed teeth. Whereas the outcome of treatment result obtained with fixed appliances is much better than with removable appliances. Fixed appliances are therefore preferred by orthodontists for various orthodontic treatment modalities involving bracket bonding, banding and various appliance attachments to the teeth. This involves the joining of two solid substrates or adherents by an intervening layer of adhesive agent. An optimum requirement for bracket bonding, banding and various fixed appliance attachments to any surface is that it should be strong enough to withstand the forces of orthodontic treatment as well as forces of mastication without any dislodgement.
