The study examined the administration of oil derivation fund and socio-economic development of the Nigeria Niger Delta region from May1999 to April 2014 with a view to providing information on mechanisms for judicious utilization and templates for assessing effective administration of oil derivation fund for socio-economic development in the Niger Delta region of Nigeria from 1999 to 2014. The study utilized primary and secondary sources of data. Primary data were collected using questionnaire and in-depth interviews. Three states - Delta, Imo and Ondo - and three Local Government Areas (LGAs) from each state were purposively selected (two LGAs based on availability of oil resource and one LGA from the state capital) from the region. Data collected through questionnaire, oral interview and observation were analysed using simple percentages and t-test statistics. The results revealed that oil derivation fund was meant to remedied environmental degradation, enhanced the development, curb youth restiveness, and bring about socio-economic amenities to the region.
