As like adult patients, adolescent chronic prostatitis/chronic pelvic pain syndrome (CP/CPPS) is devastating and has severe impact on quality of life. During puberty, the reproductive function of the prostate becomes active and secretions of prostate contributes main portion of semen. Prostate stays slow growth prepubertally and then grows rapidly during adolescent period due to the pubertal surge in serum testosterone. The inflammation during this rapidly changing period could insult harmful impact on normal physiological process of the prostate and adolescence is known as a critical period for mental, social and emotional development. Adolescent CPPS patients might have more psychological stress confronting CPPS due to the immature adaptability and vulnerable state. More study about the adolescent CPPS including the psychodynamic assessment would clarify this uncommon but important disorders.
