In their book Strategy Safari (FT Prentice Hall, 2002), subtitled "A Guided Tour Through the Wilds of Strategic Management" Henry Mintzberg, Bruce Ahlstrand and Joseph Lampel gave an overview on the full field of academic and business studies of strategy, based on a previous lecture series delivered by Mintzberg. The success and failure of an organization are at the heart of strategic management and it has been suggested that while the origins of the field lie in practice and codification of principles, strategic management saw itself as being primarily normative, seeking to develop a practically useful set of concepts which managers could use to manage. In this book The authors aim at understanding the process of learning and its components, assessing the determinants of the learning school and how they apply to organizations. They then evaluated the contribution and criticisms of the learning school. The authors having reviewed vast number of literature have summarized the concept of the learning school as "all hands-on-deck phenomenon" where individuals or employees are empowered in teams to improve on their desire and ability to create and explore.
