If population growth continues at double the growth of wheat production, there will likely be serious difficulties in maintaining wheat food supply for future generations.Demand for wheat in Africa is growing faster than for any other food crops. Demand in the developing world is expected to increase higher in the future. This will be a major challenge, particularly in developing countries where population growth is forecasted to increase by higher percents.The challenges of globally low and fluctuating wheat production, rising consumer demand and higher food prices require efforts that dramatically boost farm-level wheat productivity.
