Activated carbon is material of choice for adsorption of fluoride and heavy metal ions from aqueous media due to its easy availability and low cost. Activated carbon are characterized by standard methods.Batch experiments is more effective. The dependence of important factors like dose, contact time,pH, common ions and temperature studies were examined. The adsorption is also explained in terms of Intra particle diffusion and isotherm. SEM and XRD are used to study the surface morphology. Further this study has unearthed another facet of indigenous materials as effective adsorbents for removal of fluoride and heavy metal ions.
