Offering a materials science point of view, the author covers the theory and practice of adsorption and diffusion applied to gases in microporous crystalline, mesoporous ordered and micro/mesoporous amorphous materials. Examples include amorphous silica, akaganeites, prussian blue analogues, metal organic and covalent organic frameworks.

Dr. Roque-Malherbe was born in 1948 in Güines, Havana, Cuba. He finished his BS in Physics, at Havana University (1970), his specialization in Surface Physics in the National Center for Scientific Research-Technical University of Dresden (1972), his PhD in Physics in the Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys (1978). He completed post-doctoral stays at the Technical University of Dresden, Moscow State University, Technical University of Budapest, Institute of Physical Chemistry and Central Research Institute for Chemistry of the Russian and Hungarian Academies of Science (1978-1984). The group lead by him in the National Center for Scientific Research-Higher Pedagogical Institute Varona, Havana, Cuba (1980-1992), was one of the world's leaders in the study and application of Natural Zeolites. In 1993 after a confrontation with the Cuban regime left Cuba with his family as a Politic Refugee. From 1993 to 1999 he worked in the Institute of Chemical Technology, Valencia, Spain, Clark Atlanta University, Atlanta, GA and Barry University, Miami, FL. From 1999 to 2015 was: Dean Director and Full Professor at the School of Science at Turabo University (TU), Gurabo, PR, currently is the President of Materials for Art 6and Science Use, Las Piedras, PR, USA. He has published 136 papers, 5 books, 15 chapters, 15 patents, 43 abstracts and 189 presentations in scientific conferences. He is currently American Citizen.
