This book summarizes the present study deals with the removal of Coomassie brilliant blue dye by commercial activated carbon (CAC) and kaolin. The percentage removal of Coomassie brilliant blue dye on CAC and kaolin is found to decrease with the increase in initial concentration of dye. It is due to the lack of available active sites required for higher initial concentration. Langmuir and Freundlich adsorption isotherms were tested and found to be applicable. Mono layer coverage of dye molecules exist on the surface of this system. The percentage of removal of dye Coomassie brilliant blue was…mehr

The percentage of removal of dye Coomassie brilliant blue was found to increase with the increase in contact time. The optimum contact time was found to be 30 min. The kinetic equations like Natarajan-Khalaf, Bhattacharya-Venkobachar and Lagergren equations were found to be applicable. Intra-particle diffusion model was found to be obeyed first order kinetics with the intra-particle diffusion as one of the rate determining step. The percentage of removal of dye Coomassie brilliant blue by adsorption on CAC was found to increase with decrease in pH.
