Women have faced enormous challenges as many calls in this unjust world. The problems are more critical in developing countries as their involvement in all aspects of life is terribly low compared to their male counterparts. In recent years, women empowerment has been seen as one of the top agenda by non-governmental organizations to address this deep-rooted problem. The role of education in empowering women has been well documented by most development agents. The knowledge, skills, and confidence gained through education enable women to participate fully in the development process. This book, attempts to show the role adult literacy programmes play in empowering women, by taking two NGOs driven projects in the rural part of Ethiopia.
