Now in an updated new edition, this textbook explains mechanical vibrations concepts in detail, concentrating on their practical use. This second edition includes the new chapter Multi-Degree-of-Freedom (MDOF) Time Response, as well as new sections covering superposition, music and vibrations, generalized coordinates and degrees-of-freedom, and first-order systems. Related theorems and formal proofs are provided, as are real-life applications. Students, researchers, and practicing engineers alike will appreciate the user-friendly presentation of a wealth of topics, including practical optimization for designing vibration isolators and transient and harmonic excitations. Advanced Vibrations: Theory and Application is an ideal text for students of engineering, designers, and practicing engineers.
Reza N. Jazar is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering. He received his Ph.D. from Sharif University of Technology in Nonlinear Vibrations and Applied Mathematics, and an MSc in Mechanical Engineering and Robotics, and BSc in Mechanical Engineering and Internal Combustion Engines from Tehran Polytechnic. His areas of expertise include Nonlinear Dynamic Systems and Applied Mathematics. He obtained original results in non-smooth dynamic systems, applied nonlinear vibrating problems, time optimal control, and mathematical modeling of vehicle dynamics stability. He has authored several monographs on vehicle dynamics, robotics, dynamics, vibrations, and mathematics, and published numerous professional articles, as well as book chapters in research volumes. Most of his books have been adopted by many universities for teaching and research, and by many research agencies as a standard model for research results. Dr. Jazar had the pleasure to work in several Canadian, American, Asian, MiddleEastern, and Australian universities, as well as several years in Automotive Industries all around the world. Working in different engineering companies and educational systems has provided him with vast experience and the knowledge to publish his research on important topics in engineering and science. His unique revolutionized style of writing helps readers to learn the topics deeply in the easiest possible way.

Rezensionen
"It introduces the fundamental knowledge used in mechanical vibrations. ... The monograph will be useful to teachers of analytical mechanics and general mechanics in colleges and technical universities, and to designers, practitioning engineers and students of engineering." (Sergei Georgievich Zhuravlev, zbMATH 1311.74001, 2015)
