The founder of Sol Fitness Adventures and luxury wellness retreat label WebbWell, Melanie is recognized as a leader in the adventure travel industry and an innovator in outdoor fitness retreats. Her work is at the cutting edge, paving the way for others to discover that fitness is more than just a gym workout-it's a way of life. Melanie received her B.S. in Human Biology and Developmental Biology from Brigham Young University. After working for five years as a wildlife biologist and environmental consultant with various government agencies, Melanie quickly realized her passions for fitness and travel trumped being a bureaucrat. The ACE-Certified Personal Trainer has trained clients from The Sports Club/LA and Sterling in Washington, D.C., Montecito Country Club and Snowcreek Athletic Club in California, and Waldorf Astoria in Park City, Utah. She has appeared on Good Morning America and been featured in IDEA Fitness Journal, Los Angeles Times, Outside, Real Simple, and more. She was selected as a National Sponsored Athlete with ATHLETA, served as Assistant Editor of Exercise & Fitness at AllThingsHealing.com and Editor at Large of The Outsider, by KUHL, and moonlighted as a guide for top-rated tour operators Butterfield & Robinson and Gray & Co. Raised exploring Utah's wild and scenic places, Melanie's mentoring in the body arts began as a high school volleyball player at age 14. Physical therapists worked on chronic leg injuries and her coach introduced visualization techniques to improve performance. Defining moments in her personal journey include contracting malaria and coming back from injury many times. Undergoing knee and shoulder reconstructive surgeries and overcoming adrenal fatigue have helped her develop a sense of empathy and compassion for her clients' physical challenges. Just as she can relate to feeling hindered by the body, she intuitively knows how to guide her clients through their own healing journeys and celebrate the joy of recovery and movement. An avid explorer, Melanie's work and personal athletic pursuits have taken her on active adventures to over 30 countries and 27 and counting of the United States. She remains committed to helping others challenge the body, lift the spirit, and engage the senses in wilderness at every opportunity. Melanie lives in Utah, where she has access to family, adventure-loving friends, and spectacular wilderness at her fingertips.
