Autorenporträt
Yulia Pylyavskaya was born in Kazakhstan, brought up in Ukraine and moved to London in 1999. In London, Yulia discovered that women were treated like normal people with driving skills and not like home pets who are best quiet. When Yulia was a child, she got bullied by her classmate and repeatedly received threats in writing that she will be caught one day and a champagne (or cava) bottle will be inserted into her vagina. Then someone kind will jump on her stomach to make sure it's nicely crushed inside her. To everyone's relief none of those threats took place. After writing this book Yulia managed to overcome the trauma that those threats created, although she still keeps those letters for sweet memories. Her novel Adventures of a Big Girl in a Flat City has been published in three languages: Russian, Ukrainian and English. Yulia is the director of the Creative Writing company Andprose Ltd, head of the juries and a main organiser of the annual international literary bilingual story contest, Bez Mezh, established in 2017. It was created and sponsored by her to support Russian and Ukrainian speaking authors all over the world. She is also author of the Wine and Prose tasting nights, information on which was published in El Periodico newspaper and the book Barcelona Out by Ana Sanchez.Yulia lives in Sant Cugat dels Valles, Catalunya, raises her 12-year-old son, teaches creative writing and takes her stand-up comedy classes seriously.@FindYourFunnyStandUpComedyCourses@yuliapylyavskayawww.andprose.comfacebook.com/Adventures of a Big Girl in a Flat Cityfacebook.com/YuliaPylyavskaya
