R Swancourt is a theoretical physicist working at the Max Planck Institute for Dynamics and Self-Organization, Germany. She has been writing and painting from a very young age, winning awards for originality and presentation of ideas at numerous inter-school playwriting events organized by 'The Statesman', Kolkata. She is also a very talented artist who enjoys preparing illustrations for her own books. She lives with her husband and her two-year-old daughter in Göttingen.
