Autorenporträt
Rosignol, a multiracial village hugging the western shores of the Berbice River, whose mighty silt-laden swells threatened on many occasions to overflow the mud embankment (sea dam), was where I was born on the first of June 1959. Around the abundant richness provided by the river revolved the lives and livelihood of many of Rosignol's inhabitants. King Sugar, however, dominated, tying generations of laborers to the sugarcane fields. Education was the only way out. Unfortunately, the will to educate was often lost in the indignity of poverty and the cries of the newborn. Notwithstanding, Rosignol produced doctors, lawyers, engineers, professionals, and me. Before completing high school, I was deeply involved in politics and martial arts. I obtained first-degree black belt. In 1979, I pursued a one-year scholarship in East Berlin, Germany, and in 1994, four months in Moscow. From a political activist, I graduated to a political leader as head of the Progressive Youth Organization and a central committee member of the People's Progressive Party, positions that took me to international conferences in Europe, Asia, Latin America, and the Caribbean. In 1992, a new career path unfolded as head of the Executive Protection Agency for the President. I pursued management studies at the University of Guyana, Criminal Justice overseas program, and security studies at the NDU/CHDS in Washington, DC. My internal quest took me on a two-year self-realization journey. In 2010, after successfully completing the teacher's training course at the Art of Living Ashram in Bangalore, India, I became an art of living teacher.
