It is rare to find a book or study that aims to investigate the adverbial use of Arabic in real life. Hence, this book comes to guide researchers on adverbial nouns (or / huru fu az-zamani/ and / harfu al-makani/) by authentically identifying their meanings, usages, and types. Particularly, it analyses and describes two of the most frequently used words in Modern Standard Arabic (MSA), namely /ba'da/ (after, after [that]) and /qabla/ (before, ago) in two prominent Arabic news websites: CNN and BBC. Three linguistic qualities are addressed in the practical part of this book: semantic values and cohesive functions, syntactic features, and idiomatic usages. This book can positively impact AFL teachers and learners, as well as Arabic lexicographers and grammarians.
